Our website does not enable our visitors to communicate with other visitors or to post information to be accessed by other visitors.

Our website includes links to websites of third parties. We do not have control over, or responsibility for, the content, privacy policy, or other practices of such third party websites.

Automatic Collection of Information

We do not store data about visitors to our website except that which a customer provides by registering with us, ordering goods or services from us, communicating with us, shopping in our online store, or applying for a corporate account with us.

Information Collection and Purpose; Opt-Out Feature

We collect the personal data that a customer may volunteer while using our website to register with us, shop in our online bookstore, or otherwise communicate with us. Types of personal data that we collect from the customer include contact information (e.g., name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and firm), credit card and ID verification information, profession, type of organization, preferences as to communications from us, and order information and other communications with us. Additionally, we may collect other personal data (e.g., your IP address) that we determine reasonably necessary to perform or supervise the following functions with respect to the customer: customer registration; taking, fulfilling or shipping orders; billing, collection, or processing of payments for our goods and services; sending product announcements or special offers; communicating with the customer regarding the above matters; resolving the customer's inquiries or requests; enforcing our intellectual property or other legal rights or defending claims against us; or responding to subpoenas and or other legal requirements for disclosure. We do not gather information about our customers from sources other than the customer, its affiliates and their respective employees and agents except in the following instances.

  • If the customer applies for a corporate account with Readable Press LLC, we may perform credit checks which may include inquiries to publicly-available governmental data bases, private credit reporting agencies, and private research firms such as stock research services. Such inquiries may include periodic updates. A corporate account with Readable Press is not required for sales by credit card.
  • We may collect information from sources available to the general public such as the customer's website, other publicly available websites, newspaper articles, and state agencies administering professional licenses.
  • We maintain accounting, marketing and other business records of our dealings with the customer.

To access personal data collected from you as part of customer registration or your pending shopping cart, please Login to your Readable Press Account and click on either Review/Edit account information or Shopping cart, as applicable. Following successful login, we will provide you online without charge with a readable copy of such personal data. Note that if you enter your credit card number, it will not be displayed back to you in its entirety; rather, you will see only the first or last four digits.

We do not represent or warrant that we will retain your personal data for any particular period of time. For example, we periodically purge inactive accounts, information regarding non-current orders, and the like.

Cookies

If the customer's Web browser settings permit, our website may send a cookie which is stored on the hard drive of the customer's computer at the time of registration, login, use of the customer's shopping cart, or other times when a customer accesses the customer's account on our website. Our website may only access cookies that it has already sent the customer, not cookies sent to the customer by other sites. Our use of such cookies allows you to access your information when you log in such as items in your pending shopping cart. We also use cookies to keep track of preferences you specify while using our website and deliver promotional e-mails to your about our goods or services (unless you have opted out of such e-mails via your registration form). Cookies also support security measures such as timing out a shopping session. We may also use cookies to develop aggregate data. We do not sell or license to other parties personal data collected on cookies. Nor do we use such information to display advertisements of companies other than Readable Press LLC. If you configure your browser to reject cookies, you will not be able to place orders through our online store.

Certain organizations such as law firms, accounting firms, government agencies, and university bookstores may, however, apply for a corporate account with Readable Press. Once approved by us, a corporate account may be used to place orders without use of the online shopping cart. This would avoid our placing cookies on your computer. To apply for a corporate account, please complete one of the following applications: Law Firm, Accounting Firm, or Corporate Legal or Tax Department application; or University or Government Agency application.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We disclose our customers' personal data to Readable Press parties and our independent contractors who in our opinion have a reasonable need to access such information for the purpose of performing or supervising any of the following functions: customer registration; taking, fulfilling or shipping orders; billing, collection, or processing of payments for our goods and services; sending product announcements or special offers; communicating with customers regarding the above matters; resolving customers' inquiries or requests; enforcing our intellectual property or other legal rights or defending claims against us; or responding to subpoenas or other legal requirements for disclosure.

As indicated, we employ independent contractors to perform some of the above functions on our behalf. Examples include our contractors who perform Web hosting, book order fulfillment, shipping, and website maintenance. In particular credit card information is processed through Yahoo! and the bank performing credit card processing services for us. Such independent contractors and Readable Press Parties who have access to your personal data are obliged to respect the confidentiality of our customers' personal data.

We do not sell or license your personal data to other parties. We reserve the right to share aggregate data with other parties.

Confidentiality; Security

We have security measures in place to protect against loss, misuse and corruption of the personal data that we collect. Our website and online store are hosted by Yahoo! which employs physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to maintain the security of personal data. These include use of SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption when transmitting payment information and certain other information. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. As part of our Terms of Sale, we require that the customer when placing an order represent among other things that the customer is not an individual under the age of 18. Aside from requiring this representation and a representation regarding the customer's profession, we do not take any steps specifically designed to protect the privacy of children.

Changes in Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change this privacy policy at any time. We may make such changes based on customer comments, changes in the law or our need to accurately reflect our practices concerning data collection and disclosure. If we make such a change, we will post a notice on our website, which will allow you to "opt out" of these new policies or practices by contacting us in writing (including e-mail). Your continued use of our website and your continued transaction of business with Readable Press following the posting of such a change will signify your assent to such changes.
